The Wonderful World of Third Grade
4-30 through 5-4
Wow, I can"t believe that we are entering our last month of school. How time
flies when you are having fun! We still are working hard and I have a lot I would
like to do, so plan for your child to get the most out of our school year right up
to the very end!
Tomorrow students will be walking to the park to run their mile with the 8th grade
class. Students will wear regular school uniform and change into gym clothes before
they depart.
In Religion students will finish Chapter 17, and take the quiz on Wednesday. Mark
your calendar, as Third Grade will be participating in the Mass on Friday, May 18th.
If your child has a summer birthday please pick a day within the next three weeks
that you would like to celebrate!
Simple Solutions this week are lessons 97 through 100!
Spelling this week is Unit #29 and the words are posted on Spelling City.
For the month of May we will be writing a research report on a biography or
autobiography of your child's choice. Our library has a nice selection and we
will check books out on Thursday. We will work on these a little in class, but
some will also be done at home. The book or books your child reads will be their
May Accelerated Reader requirement. Final reports will be due on Friday May 17th.
In Math this week we will be finishing our Chapter 7 on probability and data. The
test will be on Thursday.
In Science we will be finishing our unit on Volcanoes and we will explode them on
Friday. (If all goes well!)
In Language Arts we will be working with Figurative Language. Students will be
creating flipbook learning about Consonance, Assonance, Alliteration, Onomatopoeia,
Simile, Metaphor and Personification.
In Reading we will be finishing our Unit with a “Time for Kids” about
J.J. the whale. We will review generalizations and also cause and effect.
